Welcome to my website, i’m guessing you got here because you heard me somewhere on amateur radio.

I am active on D-Star, DMR and YSF also on HF via analogue or digital voice and/or Data modes such as PSK or SSTV. In January2023 I added a QRP radio into my set up so I will be also getting this kit out to build upon my interests (See my QRP Page).

I am currently experimenting with Vara on both HF and VHF with VARAC, so far I am impressed with the mode and have enjoyed contacts both locally and across several countries.

I have even done VARAC-VHF using the Quansheng uv-k5 (8) with the all in one cable adapter with some great results.

I operate an Icom 7100 from home, linked to a wire dipole antenna (Inverted V Configuration) and connected to an MFJ993b antenna tuner. This allows HF, VHF and UHF use at home, for the VHF side a co-linear vertical antenna is installed.

For my D-Star activity I have my treasured Icom 2820 which I have owned since 2008 and it still gives me great service, ID-880 and IC-92ad along with the Kenwood TH74D which I also purchased for hand portable use. DMR is served via an Anytone 868, and recently added Yaesu System Fusion FTM 400DXE for mobile use. What will come next?

I can be found on the XLX network usually XLX 135B (D135B) which forms the basis of the South Wales network of local repeaters, gateways and hotspots for our region.

Local D Star repeaters GB7CD and GB7RB form the backbone of the network in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
